![]() ![]() It gets easier again later in the game but still, having plenty of salvage in your inventory is always useful and even necessary I would say. I've played the game and completed it on 100% countless times so far, and from every playthrough I have noticed how salvage gets a lot harder to find once you leave Soviet Installation and reach Geothermal Valley. You can have access to a few documents earlier by having the Broadhead Climbing Arrows and documents equals language XP, and increasing language XP earlier/faster means you can decipher monoliths sooner which reveals coin caches for you earlier than otherwise so that you can take advantage of the byzantine coins earlier in the story. The one thing you might want to increase early in the game is gold and a couple of weapon parts.Ĭollectibles are necessary for 100% though. Prey): RotTR screams "explore", it was designed to give the player everything they need during the first run of the game. ![]() This is not some play-your-way rpg in which some skills or items make a certain part of the game faster, or easier, or doable in a drammatically different way (e.g. Yes, some boring collectibles with no purpose at all other than give you some exp require broadhead arrows, but aside of that, it's nothing more than a gimmick.Īlso, savage.well, that's literally everywhere and enemies fall like flies even at higher difficulty modes. Anyway, I hope these videos will be helpful to at least some ROTTR players out there. I personally don't see the point of unlocking or finding everything so late in the game because you don't get to use the stuff and enjoy them enough before the story is over. So, by knowing this trick you can easily go back to copper mill and farm salvage there so that you can upgrade your weapons earlier than otherwise. When it comes to salvage, knowing the trick I showed in the video can be useful because "buying" all the weapon upgrades eats up a lot of salvage which gets more scarce after reaching Geothermal Valley since there aren't as much salvage to be found in that place as much as in Soviet Installation, which got plenty of salvage. But yeah, BCA are not so useful for the player who just plays through the story without bothering to collect all the stuff. ![]() You can save time that way and at the same time enjoy the benefits of having access to some items early. That's a big difference and I would also say that having broadhead climbing arrows early can still be quite useful because as you progress in the game, some collectibles in Geothermal Valley and Flooded Archives requires broadhead arrows to be accessed and it can be worth it to access them early instead of having to waste time on going back later in the game to obtain those items. If we look at how long the story mode is from start to finish, I would consider that unlocking broadhead arrows in Soviet Installation is pretty early compared to not unlocking it until you give the atlas to Jacob and Jonah gets kidnapped by Trinity. even then, I wouldn't even call that "early", since in order to even gain access the copper mill, you need to beat the prison break chapter (which unlocks the rope arrows) and clear the first half of the copper mill level.Īlso, you don't even need broadhead until the road to the planetarium. The first one especially, unless you want to do a speedrun. ![]() Originally posted by kill-chan:they're both kinda pointless. ![]()
